To promote the existing love and oneness which has been shared between the indigents of Aniocha/Oshimili, football enthusiasts in Onicha-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State would be treated to days of entertaining matches as a renowned philantropist, Chief Engr. Diokpa Bunor Osakwe, The Omeifeasoani and Ogwuluzeme 1 Of Onicha-Uku Kingdom, sets to organize a football tournament for the six quarters that made up the Kingdom for the Christmas season.
The competition, which would be sponsored by Chief Osakwe, the founder of life-Changing foundation and Red Dragon Football Club, Onicha-Uku, The CEO, Steeloryx Nigeria Limited and Steeloryx Media Limited, is a way of giving back to society and helping to showcase the talent of young people in Onicha-Uku to the world.
According to the organiser, football clubs within six quarters which are: Ogbe-Aka, Ogbe-Isei, Ishiekpe, Idumu-Okonicha, Idumu-Ona and Idumu-Zagbo, are encouraged to register for the competition which date of opening would be disclosed on Friday, 25 November, 2022, and have the opportunity to contest for prizes lined up for teams who emerged winner and second position.
The Omeifeasoani and Ogwuluzeme 1 Of Onicha-Uku Kingdom disclosed that he has set aside three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) for the first and second football team to make it in the tournament during the Christmas period with a trophy and medals to go with it.
He said he is organising the competition to motivate young people in getting serious with their talent, saying “I do not doubt that this competition will provide a great platform for a lot of people to showcase their talent and possibly, go on to achieve their dreams.”
According to the planned competition host, Chief Engr. Osakwe, the football event is targeted at promoting peace amongst the quarters in Onicha-Uku. Adding that “It is another Christmas season, the season to come together to share love and play together”.
He said “I believe that my quarter, Ogbe-Aku will carry the trophy because they always do and they are always active in football games and more. We are great and lovely people, we are Onicha-Uku people and loving one another is our lifestyle even as we are hospitable”.
While noting that football matches are games that bonds the youth, communities, towns and even nations, Chief Osakwe added that “Onicha-Uku will also play a match with Issele-Uku football team to win a huge sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) and a big trophy for the first position in the winning at the end of the football match”.
