The Igwete of Amai kingdom, HRM Paul Solomon Ifeneziuche, has stated that the land demarcation exercise between Amai kingdom and Umuebu Kingdom of Ukwuani LGA of Delta State has not been concluded.
The monarch made the disclosure last week during a Press Conference, where he debunked speculations that the exercise had been completed.
The monarch who was pained by the rumours making the rounds, explained what had transpired so far in the course of the exercise.
Igwete in the Press Statement, stated that an exercise which everyone were in the beginning filled with joy and hopeful that the former Ukwuani LGA council chairman would use the golden opportunity given to him by the executive governor of the state to put a permanent end to the age long dispute, deviated from the two areas in dispute (Ewulu and Ishiugu) and went further to introduce new boundaries in four new areas that were never in dispute (Oboi, Ise, Odo & Odopo) further compounding the existing problem that we were all genuinely finding lasting solutions to.
His Royal Majesty, the Igwete of Amai kingdom, stressed painfully, that the former Executive Chairman of the council, Ogbuefi Chukudi Dafe, for reasons best known to him, rebuffed him from speaking at his Valedictory session, after allowing other traditional rulers present at the occasion (including the Ebu of Umuebu) to speak at the event.
He added that the Valedictory Session was basically dominated by reports and praises over an inconclusive land demarcation exercise, which every honest individual who is sincerely peace driven, can attest to it that the exercise was indeed unfair, unacceptable, and the purported hurriedly produced Survey Plan that the exercise birthed and was unveiled at the event, does not represent the collective interest of both communities, even though others may conclude otherwise.
The monarch further stated that he was left with no other option than to stage a walked out at the event before his silence at the valedictory session would be interpreted as consent.
Igwete disclosed that his request to speak at the function was to enable him publicly set the record straight.
The monarch known to be a peace loving king, concluded that “the incoming Executive Chairman will inherit the remaining task of the inconclusive land demarcation exercise in the interest of lasting peace, so that in the end, both sides can embrace one another, drink together and collectively endorse the completion.
“It is at that point that we can beat hands on our chest and say total peace has been restored between Amai and Umuebu”. He however, called on the Executive Governor of Delta State, H.E. Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who by virtue of his office is a father to all, not to relent until reasonable success is achieved, just like the case of Amai and Ezhiorkpor with an impressive happy ending.
