The ancient Asaba Kingdom stood still for Professor Uchenna Uzokwe of the Dennis Osadebe University as she tied the nuptial cord with Chief Nathaniel Azuka at the Chapel of Resurrection Asaba.
The wedding attracted members of the academia, political actors, civil and public servants, the clergy, friends and family members as well as dignitariesries from all walks of life.
The reception held at the main hall of St Philips Anglican Church, Asaba was well attended.
As soon as the bridal train arrived at the hall, there was an electrifying welcome from the guests who stood up to usher them in.
The bridal train was unique in their beautiful attires dancing to the old school music of Cool and the Gang and beautiful tunes as the guests were all nodding their head in appreciation for Prof. Uzokwe and her husband.
The climax of the moment was when Professor Uzokwe together with her gorgeously dressed Asebi members led by Professor Elsie Adewoye walked the aisle in a most scintillating dancing steps.
The newlywed couple was at their best with Professor Uchenna Uzokwe wearing simple sleeveless gown making her look younger than her age beaming with smiles written all over her and the husband adorned in his blue three piece suit with a pair of black shoe to match.
In a brief speech, the Chairman on the occasion, Dr Okey Ofili advised them to love each other without limitation.
Dr Ofili harped on tolerance, forgiveness and respect for each other as the best means of enjoying their marriage.
The cutting of the long wedding cake and feeding of each other added colour to the auspicious event. Professor Uchenna Uzokwe knelt down to serve food to her loving husband.
Chief Nathaniel Azuka on his part, carried his wife like baby on his thigh and fed her with food and drinks to the admiration of the guests who acknowledged their acceptance with rousing ovation.
Another round of dance by the couple took place this time around with great pomp and circumstance. The husband took his wife’s hand and turned her round while the wife responded without resistance.
The 750 capacity hall was filled to capacity while different variety of food and assorted drinks were served. The people really enjoyed themselves with fun.
The University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide was not left out in the celebration of joyful marriage of Professor Uchenna Uzokwe and Chief Nath Azuka. The Immediate Past President Worldwide, Professor Elsie Adewoye, former Worldwide President, Chief Dr Kemi Emina, The Odi-Ega 1 and the present Worldwide President, Professor Gabriel Nyityo though representative were on hand with their unflinching supports.
