The Urhobo Youth Leaders Association, UYLA has cautioned the Delta Ijaw Advocacy Group, DIAG to be mindful of comments that will heat up the polity in Delta State.
In a statement by UYLA Acting President, Chief Anthony Ofoni, “the Delta State Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP Chairman, Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso should be commended for only reiterating the rotational politics that was created by the PDP founding fathers so that every Senatorial District in Delta State will have a sense of belonging. For the purpose of equity and justice, it is natural that Delta Central takes a shot again after the completion of the first circle. So, the call for Chief Esiso’s resignation over his firm belief on this reality at a PDP function recently in Oviorie by DIAG is unnecessary, provocative and uncalled for”.
The rotational arrangement according to Chief Ofoni was necessitated by the need to sustain fairness and equity in Delta State. He therefore, charged the DIAG to support the candidacy of Urhobo from Delta Central Senatorial district in 2023. After eight years before the return of power to Delta South, based on the PDP zoning arrangement.
Chief Ofoni further cautioned that “any attempt to the contrary will be resisted because the rotation is not based on ethnic groups but on Senatorial Districts”.
