The group known as Deltans Lives Matter (DLM) have condemned the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) endorsement of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Frontline gubernatorial aspirant Olorogun David Edevbie.
DLM made the condemnation in a press Statement signed by its Global Coordinator (Christian Moses Abeh), Deputy (Gabriel Mamuzo JP) and Secretary (Bartholomew Utele), presented to journalists at a Press Conference held today at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center, Asaba
The group which revealed that they wrote the then chairman of Delta State traditional rulers council (HRM Obi Efeizomor of Owa Kingdom) on 19/04/2021, to convoke an ethnic conference where they will agree on zoning by senatorial or by tribe, queried the UPU for heating up the polity by begging Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to accept Olorogun David Edevbie as the PDP governorship Candidate for the 2023 elections.
According to DLM “UPU always love to heat up the polity every election year, and they love working against the interest of peace. Begging Okowa to support David Edevbie amongst others is an insult on not just the Governor, other Governorship aspirants but the entire state.
“Standing as surety is not just injurious to David but the entire Urhobo nation. We expected the UPU to apologize over the role David Edevbie played as Commissioner for Finance under the Ibori’s administration for six years. Has the UPU forgotten that Delta State 4.2m pound sterling that was stolen by chief Ibori was repatriated last year and the money is still with the Federal Government, what about our 15million dollars Chief Ibori used in bribing Mallam Ribadu, and the numerous properties he bought all over the world with Delta money? This is an administration David Edevbie played very active role. Yet the UPU didn’t deemed it necessary to apologise but to bring such person to government as Governor. Now we know who they really are.
“David Edevbie’s insignificant position in the presidency was gotten as a result of Delta State billions that was spent for Yar-Adua’s emergence. Delta State money was wasted to get that position where he only spent two years. And UPU is telling Deltans that the two years is enough experience to govern us. A common private secretary? Not even a minister or Special Adviser or P.A. He has already handed over our state to the Lagos people he is begging to fund his campaigns when he has not become the candidate of his party”. Abeh stated in his DLM Press Statement he read during the Press Conference.
