With just few hours to the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Asaba Chapter’s Valedictory Lecture for Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Director of Communication at Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Re. Charles Uganwa has been unveiled as the Spiritual Father Of The Day.
The Lecture, titled “THE BURDEN OF LEADERSHIP” will hold today Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at the Unity Hall of Government House, Asaba, by 2pm.
Chairman of the 2023 Lecture organizing Committee, Dr. Augustine Isikwei Ojogbo, Ph:D, FCVSN, JP, disclosed this yesterday, while unveiling the Spiritual Father and other expected personalities to newsmen in Asaba.
Ojogbo said the UIAA Annual Public Service Lecture is a platform used in proffering solutions to the challenges of the society and this year’s event, would be used to honour the Delta State Governor, for being a Worthy Ambassador of the University of Ibadan.
He said that the choice of Rev. Uganwa being an alumnus of the University of Ibadan was the best especially as
both the Guest Speaker, Kingsley Emu and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa are both alumae of the University of Ibadan.
Adding, Dr. Ojogbo noted that “When the Almighty God calls someone to work in his vineyard, he usually acquiesces and, exuding that graceful dignity laced with humility, he abandons all he is doing, no matter how rosy, to follow God. So it happened to the fair-complexioned, tall and sturdy Rev. Fr. Charles Uganwa,
“From his biography, it was confidence that gave Rev. Charles Uganwa the strength and the energy later in life to engage people of all classes in his homilies at practically every stage of his career.
“For your information, Rev. Charles Uganwa is a member of Chartered Institute of Banking and British Institute of Management, who has always demonstrated steadfastness in his commitment to the priesthood since he was called, started his priestly training in 1984 at SS. Peter and Paul Seminary, Ekpoma, for his Spiritual Year programme. He later entered SS. Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Ibadan, in 1987, and finished in 1994, where he obtained a BA in Philosophy from the University of Ibadan and BTH Pontifical Urban University, Rome, before his ordination in 1994″.
While enjoining stakeholders in leadership positions and the general public to the Valedictory Lecture, Dr. Ojogbo noted that this year’s UIAA Asaba Chapter’s lecture is holding at the twilight of the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and at the dawn of a new administration in Delta State, which will have Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor of Delta State, so, Dr. Emu shall be speaking on the topic, “THE BURDEN OF LEADERSHIP” today Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at the Unity Hall of Government House, Asaba by 2pm.
