The President Worldwide of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Professor Saawua Gabriel Nyityo has expressed surprise at the level of solidarity by members of the Association since the demise of his Father-in-law, Late Nze Daniel Chinyere.
Interacting with some some members of the Association who came to commiserate with him during the final burial of the Late sage at Umueleagwa-Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State, Professor Nyityo specifically thanked the Immediate Past President ( IPP), President Emeritus, other past Presidents and members of the Executive Council for their unflinching support.
According to him, ” Iam overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and encouragement from members of UIAA both at home and in diaspora since the announcement of the glorious exit of my father-in-law last month”. Ha said some members had been calling him on phone while others had been sending text messages during this time of grief.
He described his Father -in-law as a legend and an icon of no mean importance, adding that he was resourceful, articulate and pragmatic during his life time. He continued, ” late Nze Daniel Chinyere’s contributions to the corporate world, to the church, to the society and nation-building were enormous and unforgettable”.
Professor Gabriel Nyityo, however, appealed to great UITES to remain steadfast to let the spirit of togetherness be their guiding principles for the overall development of the Association.
The funeral was attended by people from all walks of life including Exco members, Abia State Branch members, Benue State Branch members among other signatories.
