University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) worldwide will on Friday, 28 February, 2025 roll out drums to celebrate legal products of the institution who have attained the status of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), 78 so far, as part of its culture of showcasing the excellence of UI.
Tagged “Reunion and Award Night”, the event which comes up under the Chairmanship of Senator Adedayo Adeleye, the Chairman of Nigerian Port Authority, will take place at Dame Edith Okowa Auditorium, intended to celebrate eminent legal minds who were educated in UI and have attained such an enviable status despite the fact that the University came into legal training behind some other training institutions.
According to UIAA President worldwide, Prof. Saawua Gabriel Nyityo, “the event which is a sort of homecoming for our members who have attained the status of SAN; will be preceded by a talk to a multitude of our young ones, desirous of achieving such a feat in life”
In his words, Prof Nyityo says, “we are delighted that many of UI products have become Senior Advocates despite the fact that UI started Law Faculty rather belatedly, attaining such a feat in Nigeria is not only a mark of their professional exposure and personal discipline, but emblematic of the kind of quality education they received in UI”
“Consequently, we want to bring all of them together. We want them to inspire the young ones. We want them to come and see their University. We want to showcase them as quality representatives of the University of Ibadan”, Prof. Nyityo boasted.
Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde is expected as a special guest while the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale is the Chief Host.
