As part of her contribution towards nation building, all is now set for the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Asaba Chapter to hold its 2019 Public Service Lecture.
Disclosing this in a chat with journalists in her office yesterday, the Vice Chairman of the Asaba Chapter UIAA and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LoC), Dr (Mrs.) Felicia Adun revealed that the topic of this year’s 2019 public service lecture Theme; “The Impact of Security On Nation Building: The Delta State Story”.
According to her, the Association’s lectures aims in part at agenda setting in the nation’s polity. “It seeks to give answers to the very many nagging questions that presently confronts us as a developing nation” Dr. Felicia Adun stated.
She noted that the Asaba Chapter Public Service Lecture will hold at the Unity Hall, old Government House Asaba on Wednesday the 6th of November 2019, beginning at 3 pm prompt under the Chairmanship of His Excellency Dcn Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, the Deputy Governor of Delta State.
Dr. Adun, disclosed that, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Adeyinka Adeleke Bode, PSC, MBA, is expected to deliver a lecture on “The Impact of Security On Nation Building: The Delta State Story”.
She noted that, the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, Obi (Prof.) L. C. Nwoboshi the Obuzor of Ibusa, as the Royal Father of the Day While the Spiritual Father of the Day is Most Rev. (Dr.) Michael Odogwu Elue the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese.
Dr. Adun disclosed that, other Guests of Honour includes; Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Chiedu Ebie, Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG) among others.
Dr. Felicia Adun further revealed that the choice of Adeyinka Adeleke Bode was because of his position as CP Delta State Command and patriotic spirit in fighting crime in the State.
According to the Permanent Secretary Delta State Ministry of Water Resources and UIAA Asaba Chapter 2019 Public Service Lecture LoC Chairman, this year’s Lecture is in honour of Late Chief Uso Onianwa (JP), the Oza – Okita of Asaba.
“Late Chief Uso Onianwa was our Ancient. He was the founder and pioneer Chairman of UIAA Asaba Chapter. One of our pillars. He performed excellently well in both the public and private sector when he was alive”. Dr. Felicia Adun noted.
She stressed that over the years, as part of her contributions towards nation building, the association had invited very many patriotic Nigerians to use her platform in initiating healthy discourse in the nation.
