Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Udu Chapter have been called upon to eschew every act capable of fermenting electora the area before, during and after the forthcomingeneral elections.
The National Orientation Chief Orientation and Mobilization Officer (COMO) in Udu Local Government Area, Mrs Florence John Arute, made the call during the Phase 2 of NOA’s voter sensitization and education of road transport workers comprising of drivers, motor boys and union executives at the Mofor Motor Park in Udu LGA.
While admonishing the road transport workers to desist from being used as thugs by any politician, Mrs Arute asserted, “Electoral violence is a vice which is inimical t our polity and has, in the past, led to the untimely death of our promising youths.”
The NOA COMO advised that road transqport workers to protect their right to decided who represents them at the different levels of government by refusing to be deceived with money into vote buying, ballot box snatching or any other act that could mar the electoral process.Q
