The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Dcn. (Barr.) Kingsley Otuaro has highlighted early identification and acknowledgement of purposeful talents and potentials as one of the surest ways of making it in life.
Otuaro noted this while challenging Nigerian youths to discover their potentials and turn them into commercial value to create employment opportunities thereby reducing poverty and crime rate in the country.
Declaring open the 1-Day Youths Seminar organized by Aspire Global Conference, with the theme “Youths Capacity Building”, in Warri last weekend, Otuaro, in a keynote address advised youths to always diacover their positive talents / potentials to add value in the society by commercialising their God given talents to solve society problems.
While charging youths to channel their potentials in solving societal problems, Otuaro, who shared his youthful pre and peri University days experiences, with emphasis on the harsh environment, lack of social amenities with the hard economic challenges faced while growing up from the tributaries of Niger Delta, said if well harnessed, Nigerian youths potential can eradicate unemployment.
“I have innate potential of solving problems while growing up. You too have so much potentials so you need to discover that which you are imbued with and turn it into commercial value. Be a problem solver in whichever way because, there are a lot of social problems to solve”. He said
According to the Delta State Number 2 Man, ”You need to discover your talents and commercialize them to add value in the society. You must accept responsibilities and brace up the task to becoming a society problem solver. God gave everyone a potential and your ability to discover your potential and commercialize it’s value to solve problems makes you different and recognised in your environment and beyond”.
“When you discover your talent, God will begin to bring opportunities for you. Know who truly you are and the Lord will come your way and you will begin to turn them into commercial values”.
He disclosed that from inception of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led Government, the State set up mechanisms to address unemployment and emphasized on entrepreneurship development and job creation, which the State YAGEP, STEPS and others schemes were currently addressing in the State.
“We knew from onset that we must put in place entrepreneurship to reduce unemployment”. He added
The Delta State Deputy Governor appealed to those yet to benefit directly or indirectly to be patient that the State Government cannot absolved the over six million persons in the State at a time, but those whose clothes were not dry with the morning sun, will dry with the afternoon or evening suns.
“The State Government recognized and appreciate all Deltans the limited resources is delaying. We will build on the successes we have recorded so far”. He said.
