In line with the lockdown directive of the state government for two weeks beginning from tomorrow in order to curb the outbreak of Covid 19 in the state,operators of tricycle and motorcycles have been directed to stay off the road throughout the period.
The State President of the Tricycle and Motorcycles Association, Chief Obi Nzete gave the directive today while addressing some executive members in Asaba.
Chief Nzete said any tricycle and motorcycles rider who flout the directive of government would face the full weight of the law.
He said all executive members should direct all those working under them to stay at home during the two weeks period as there will be no sale of tickets or any other materials to riders.
While stressing that the decision of the Okowa administration to lockdown the state for two weeks was in the best interest of the state Chief Nzete said everybody should adhere to the directive as the coronavirus pandemic was still spreading across the world.
Chief Nzete noted that before now the association had earlier reduced the price for daily tickets while Keke were directed to carry only two passengers in order to maintain social distancing.
He advised tricycles and motorcycles operators to observe the preventive measures by using alcohol based sanitisers,regular hand washing and social distancing among others.
Chief Nzete commended the state government for strategies put in place to combat the outbreak of coronavirus in the state and advised Deltans and residents to obey the lockdown directive
