It has been over one week since one of the darkest days in Nigerian football history.
Thè World Cup Draws in Qatar last weekend came along to add insult to Nigeria’s injury, to make matters psychologically worse for Nigerians as they continue to process their Eagles’ failure.
The humbling reality is that the world did not miss a single beat in its ceaseless tick tock following Nigeria’s failure. Even the Nigerian football firmament has simply absorbed the shock and, for most people, life has returned to the hardship that pervades the land.
The actual financial losses to Nigeria are not even being discussed because most people do not have the faintest idea the magnitude. If they did, tissue paper sellers would have sold out, as the people weep and wipe their tears in self-pity.
Nigerians should get ready to shed those tears this Thursday night.
On the Sports Parliament this week, an invitation has been extended to one of the foremost experts on the business of sports in the world for an insight into the financial loss to Nigeria, to FIFA and even to sponsors of the Super Eagles, following the team’s absence from Qatar 2022.
It will be an eye opener that no one should miss.
Probably, Nigerians and their government will learn not to take their sports unseriously anymore, going forward.
Idorenyin Uyoe whilst in transit somewhere along the circuit of his endless travels, will attempt to join Parliamentarians in session, and take Nigerians into that secretive world of the sports business ruled presently by ignorance in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, whatever happens Parliamentarians will continue their passion-filled conversation from last week when they convene from 10:30 pm this this week on the Sports Parliament on Africa’s largest television network, NTA.
