There has been reported signs of tension as crisis brew in Ubulu-Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, following the news that the General Assembly of Ubulu-uku Youth Development Council (UYDC) have cancelled the to be conducted home Chapter’s election of the group scheduled for Saturday, 4th December, 2021, Ubulu-Uku Development Council.
The cancellation was contained in a statement issued by some concerned youths of Ubulu-Uku communty under the aegis of Ubulu-Uku Youth Development Council that was signed by immediate past president, Comrade Enyi Austin
According to the youth body “we are calling on the public and all branches of Ubulu-uku Youth Association (UYA) across the country, that the purported Election being planned by the Ubulu-Uku Development Council for the home Chapter sheduled for Saturday, 4th December 2021 will not hold”.
Speaking to journalist in a press conference held within the community yesterday, the immediate past president, Comrade Enyi Austin disclosed that the duly appointed Steering Committee of the UYDC has been mandated to work out modalities for conducting of proper election, and shall notify all stakeholders in due course.
The statement added that “the Ubulu-uku Development Council (UDC) being the parent body of all Community based Organisations in Ubulu-uku, shall accordingly be invited to play its observer’s role in the UYDC election in view”.
The immediate past president said the decision to cancel the youths elections in the community was as a result of manipulations, stressing that anyone caught flaunting the order would be prosecuted.
Enyi explained that the sanctity of the extant Bye-law of the UYDC shall not be subjugated or suppressed by any form of external manipulations.
While saying that they were responsible and law abiding members of Ubulu-uku community and patriotic citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he said “our members shall continue to contribute our quotas towards the peace, security, and development of our fatherland anywhere we find ourselves in Nigeria”
