Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Honourable Gbugbemi Kpenosen-Ikolo, has said that technical education should form the bedrock of the education of an individual.
Honourable Ikolo stated this during the official launch of the book, “The Pathology And Management Of Organizational Sickness”, written by Adm. Tola Ajimisogbe, at the Orchid Hotel in Asaba.
She said that technical education prepares an individual for self sustainability, adding that the state government was already working hard to standardise quality education through technical colleges and vocational centres across the state.
The commissioner commended the clear vision of the state government for investing in technical education in the state, saying that parents should take advantage of the various technical colleges and vocational centres in the state by enrolling their children and wards in the establishments.
She maintained that aspiring to acquire technical know-how through the technical colleges or the skill acquisition centres should not be adjudged to be inferior to getting degrees from universities or other higher institutions, adding that the future belongs to those who are technically skilled in their various chosen vocations.
The commissioner commended the author of the launched book for finding time to write the book which is geared towards proffering workable solutions for administrative shortcomings of establishments, noting that the technical depth of the book was an index of the level of hard work done in packaging it .
