The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Hon.Sunny Ogwu has charged staff of the Board to exhibit exceptional leadership skills and the right emotional attitude required to effectively lead teams.
Hon. Ogwu stated this on Tuesday at Orchid hotel , the Delta State capital while declearing open A 2 day training workshop organized by the Board in partnership with Osita- Ojakovo Associates in Leadership Skills and Emotional Intelligence.
The SUBEB boss, while emphasizing on the significance and benefits of the training ,lauded the State Governor ,Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his human capacity programmes even as he expressed optimism that the workshop was the begining of series of training for management and staff of the Board.
He explained that the workshop was conceptionalized to equip participants with the requisite knowledge , skills and the right emotional attitude to effectively provide leadership.
While highlighting the benefit of the workshop, the executive Chairman stated that the training would enable participants to contribute more positively to the achievement of SUBEB organizational goals.
Ogwu charged the over 50 participants drawn from the various departments of the board to pay rapt attention during lectures, saying that the knowledge acquired from the workshop would help to improve on their interpersonal relationships both with colleagues and members of the public.
Earlier, the Secretary to the board, Sir Byron Unini, in his welcome remarks stressed the significance of the training which he said was carefully conceptualized and done in phases.
Unini while disclosing that more staffs would be enlisted in subsequent phases, noted that efforts are been put in place to also integrate them into the training progrmme of the Delta State Government.
Participants who were lectured on work culture, good leadership, new rules Emotional intelligence however, expressed delight for their nomination to participate in the two days training.
Present was the Member Representing Delta South in the Board, Mr Paul Kurugbe, and facilitators – Mr Charlse Ojakovo, Mr. Eborah Sylvester and Mr Chika Isika who were lines up to deliver paper on various topics
