Relevant stakeholders in Delta State have been called upon to restrategise on developmental ways to address Gender Based Violence(GBV) issues.
The statement was made by ACOMIN National Coordinator, Mr. Ayo Ipinmoye involved in implementation of the Covid-19 Response Mechanism, Resilient and Sustainable System for Health and Community System strengthening (C19RM/RSSH-CSS) were in the state for a two-day workshop on Gender Based Violence response.
The Coordinator who was represented by National Program Manager, Martin-Mary Falana, said, “we have come to train stakeholders on GBV in Delta state so that the stakeholders can also be equipped with knowledge and skills on how to respond swiftly to GBV issues in the state.”
He further disclosed that they are training three volunteers as call centre officers to be in charge of the call centres that will be launched soon in Delta state to enable people at anytime to promptly reach out to the officers when they notice or see signs of GBV issues and to also collate the data collected as regard the various services to the survivors.
In his statement, Falana stressed on the importance for a counselor who will respond to the numerous issues by ensuring that case presented by the various survivors get the appropriate justice.
During the course of the two days workshop, various ministries like Health, Justice, Women Affairs, Civil society Organisations and Law Enforcement Agencies were present in the robust discussions to strengthen and enhance Gender Based Violence response in the state.
