No fewer than four “Urhobo Herdsmen”, masquerading as Fulani herdsmen has been apprehended by a combined team comprising of police, Department of State Security (DSS), local vigilante and youths in Abraka, Ethiope east and Obiaruku, Ukwuani local government areas of Delta State.
The Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of Abraka and Umutu mobilized and embarked on a joint operation to Government Reserved Land, Obiaruku, where suspected “Urhobo killer herders” uses as their hideouts just as they opened fire on sighting the police but were repelled by the teams.
Police Public Relations Officer PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, disclosed that during the gun duel, some of the hoodlums escaped with gunshot injuries.
“However, four suspects, Lucky Eduvire, 31years, Freedom Uguru, 33 years, Enita Omogware, 38 years, Henry Blessing Ovie, 25 years were arrested and three motorcycles recovered”, noting that manhunt for the fleeing suspects is on going.
Similarly, one Odili Opochi, allegedly involved in the killing of Anti-Cult warlord Amb. Ogwu-Chinuwa Austyne Emuamaka popularly known as Austyn Emu, President, Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps (AVC), has been nabbed.
According to the PPRO, “The Command has been on the constant trail of those suspected to have murdered one Austin Emu in Kwale on 5th December 2020, detectives from Kwale acting on intelligence arrested one Odili Opochi alleged to have be among those who murdered the said Austin Emu president of Anti-Cult Delta State.
“The suspect have confessed and gave useful information on his involvement”, adding that manhunt for other members of the gang is ongoing
