In continuation of its routine humanitarian services to communities across the country, the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), aka Pyrates Confraternity’s Vito Corsica Deck, Asaba / Agbor Chapter Free Medical Mission, has hit Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State with some charitable gestures.
Before the commencement of the free medical Services, members of the Pyrates Confraternity, led by the Cap’n of Vito Corsica Deck, Engr. Emeka Okolo, paid courtesy visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of Umunede, His Majesty, Agadagidi Ezeagwu Ezenwal1, The Obi of Umunede, to inform him of its mission to his Kingdom.
According to Engr. Okolo “We are here to assist our people by treating anyone diagnosed of common diseases; give them drugs, give first aid to those with chronic ailment and guide them on how to fight all sorts of diseases.”
Engr. Okolo who noted that the NAS medical mission was part of the association’s community course, maintained that the programme was aimed at complementing the efforts of government at providing adequate health care services to the public, adding that “we have various programmes in NAS and this is one of them.”
The Obi commended the association for chosing Umunede for its focal point for the medical outreach and charged his people to render necessary supports to the association, just as he encouraged all to access the free health services provided by the association.
While lauding NAS for its kind gesture, the revered monarch, who was also a beneficiary of the outreach, called upon the indigents of Umunede to take advantage of the free medical services offered by the members of the Pyrates Confraternity.
Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of Agbor Central Hospital, who is an indigene of Umunede, Dr. Roy Ngozi Maduka, admonished the people to take their health issues seriously, saying that “the treatment is without sentiments or discrimination, and as you can see according to the number of people present here today.”
The medical services rendered to residents of Umunede included health check awareness, health talks, medical examination, blood sugar monitoring and free sugar test, treatment of hypertension and diabetes, disbursement of drugs, dental checks, gift of eye glasses and a host of others.
The outreach which hundreds of Ika indigents benefited from, was held at the Umunede Primary Healthcare Centre at Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
