The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), Pyrates Confraternity (PC), Hispaniola X Deck (Lekki Lagos) in conjunction with Atlantis Deck (Atlanta, USA) branches, last weekend, under the supervision of the deck’s Second Mate, Mr Victor Dorgu and Medical Pyrate, anchored a free medical outreach in the host communities comprising the Alpha Beach and Igbo Efon and environs.
The Hispaniola X Deck of NAS President, Dere Imilar, said that the event was among the Association’s annual Medical events, and that this year’s own was in compliance with the NAS drive for a healthier society especially to their host Communities and that such programs will continue as a way to support in Community Development and increased healthy lifestyle among Nigerians.
The NAS Medical outreach, which was supported by opthalmologists, Dr Ahamefula Christy and Dr. Emmanuel Agbofume, administered free eye test, treatment, distribution of medically treated glasses, free health and on consultation and collaboration with other medical experts, that partnered the Association, conducted eye surgery for those with severe eye defects.
The event, which saw the examination and treatment of over eighty (80) patients, including men, women and children with eye defects, in the Communities, was held at the Baale’s Palace, Alpha Beach, Lekki, Lagos.
The program started with registration as early as 10am and lasted till about 5pm on the same day.
The Communities were also sensitized on the need to reduce adverse exposure of their eyes to certain activities and to always conduct constant health checks especially eyes as minor cases can degenerate to a high-risk health challenges, if not discovered and treated on time.
Some of the gains recorded at the program include, On the spot testimonies of some beneficiaries who had visual defects and got tested, received free glasses with confirmation that their eye sights improved immediately they started using the glasses given to them.
in his appreciation message, Yusuf Atewolara Elegushi – the Baale of Okun Alfa Village; Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, thanked the Pyrates Confraternity for their consistent support in different ways to the community and prayed that God blesses them always for their humanitarian work and support to the community.
