Asaba, Delta State – January 30, 2025
The Bonsaac and Oduke communities rolled out the red carpet on Thursday as they warmly welcomed His Royal Majesty, (Prof.) Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge (SAN, OON, FNIALS, KSG, KSJI), the 14th Asagba of Asaba, during his maiden visit to the satellite communities. This historic occasion marked the first of its kind, further strengthening the bond between the revered monarch and his people.
The royal visit was graced by palace guides, high-ranking chiefs, and dignitaries, as the communities paid glowing tributes to the Asagba’s esteemed profile. His Majesty, a distinguished legal luminary and erudite scholar of international repute, has brought renewed prestige to the ancient Asaba kingdom since ascending the throne.
While celebrating the Asagba’s leadership, the communities also highlighted pressing infrastructural challenges affecting their over 100,000 residents. In a heartfelt joint address, they listed critical concerns, including deplorable road networks, the absence of public health institutions, a lack of public primary and secondary schools, and the non-existence of a police station to curb crime.
The communities further decried the lack of judicial institutions for the quick dispensation of justice and the absence of a standard marketplace to support local trade and economic activities. Given their growing population and strategic importance as part of the Delta State Capital Territory, residents called for urgent government intervention.
In their appeal, they sought the royal influence of His Majesty to bring their plight to the attention of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, requesting swift action before the next rainy season to alleviate their struggles.
With unwavering loyalty, the Bonsaac and Oduke communities pledged their full support to the Asagba’s reign, expressing confidence in his wisdom and ability to foster unity, progress, and development.
As the visit concluded, the communities reaffirmed their faith in the power of traditional leadership to drive positive change, while hoping that their voices, amplified by the Asagba’s influence, will reach the highest corridors of government.
Long live the Asagba of Asaba!
Long live Bonsaac and Oduke communities!
Long live Delta State!
God bless Nigeria!
