Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has expressed readiness to partner with the United Nations (UN) to address the role of women in public institutions.
She stated this while receiving the UN resident and humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria, Matthias Schmale, and his team on a courtesy visit to her office at the state house, Abuja on Thursday.
The wife of the President stated that she also hopes to pursue increased participation of women in economic matters, ending gender-based violence, child labor and the scourge of out of school children, in collaboration with various UN agencies.
In his response, Mr. Matthias Schmale promised, on behalf of his organisation, to collaborate with the office of the First Lady, knowing her antecedents especially in the areas of Women and Children.
He further noted that the UN is aware of President Bola Tinubu’s stand on improving the Nigerian economy, adding that the UN would support in that regard.
