The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) aka Pyrates Confraternity’ Katamaran Deck (Ijebu/Remo/Ifo Chapter) in collaboration with the association’s AftaShok Deck (North California,one of the Chapters in USA) last week embarked on public sensitization on Covid 19 prevention protocols and donations of preventive materials to commemorate the 2021 World Health Day.
According to Olugbenga Akindele, the Cap’n of the Katamaran Deck of NAS, the association was on a Medical Mission, which was one of NAS social responsibilities to humanity. He Added that the NAS Medical Mission was one of the fundamental programmes under the Association.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode Divisional Police Headquarter, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu-Ode Public Health Care, Ijebu-Ode L.G.A, Itoro, ijebu-Ode, and So-Safe Corps, Ijebu Zonal Commnad. Itoro, ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, were among the institutions / organizations that benefited from the Katamaran Deck of NAS Medical Mission in Ogun State.
In his remark, the Chairman, ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, who was represented by Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Oluwo Amos, commend and appreciated the National Association of Seadogs for bringing the NAS Medical Mission to the Council. He said, the Local Government Council was open for invites in any of the Pyrates subsequent programmes and pledged readiness for necessary collaboration in due course.
Also speaking, Chief Olusesan Joseph Odufuwa, the Principal of Senior School, Ijebu Grammar School, Ijebu – Ogun State, who in the presence of staff and pupils expressed gratitude and appreciation to NAS on behalf of the school’s management and pupils, disclosed that he knew much about the Pyrates back then in the 80’s when he was in higher Institution.
While maintaining that the Pyrates happened to be friendly, non violent and were one of the best student groups back then, Odufuwa decried the waywardness of some secondary School pupils engaging in the consumption of illicit drugs, cultism and internet fraud popularly know as ‘yahoo yahoo’.
He said though the management of the school has means of rehabilitating erring pupils, this was however not enough to straighten pupils.
Odufuwa implored the National Association of Seadogs to come to the aid of the school by deploying it’s famed doggedness and intellectual capability to help curb the menace and create an avenue in public secondary schools, where children will be sensitized on moral behaviours and focus more on their education to be great in life.
Mrs. Abiola Bakare, Ag. Public Health Care Coordinator of ijebu-Ode LGA Public Healthcare and Mr. Ayonkoya Quadri, the Zonal Commander, So-Safe Corps, Ijebu Zonal Command, Itoro, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, thanked the Pyrates Confraternity for considering their centers as beneficiaries of the NAS Medical Mission.
SPADENG.com gathered that in addition to the NAS Medical Mission project, a webinar Questions& Answer session was organized on April 10, 2021, by the Katamaran and AftaShok Decks of the National Association of Seadogs to further shed light to the general public on the awareness of COVID-19 Vaccines Effectiveness: AstraZeneca pros and cons with four seasoned medical health practitioners home and abroad as speakers.
The Katamara Deck Cap’n, Olugbenga Akindele used the platform to extend his profound appreciations to the leadership of AftaShok Deck (Northern California, USA Chapter), led by Edwin Oyubu and his members, panelists and all the participants that made the medical mission a success.
