The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) International aka Pyrates Confraternity Is organising the 11th Ralph Opara Memorial Lecture (ROML) with the theme ‘Judiciary and Journalism as frontiers of Democracy: Anachronistic or Contemporary in Justice and Fairness?’
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Asaba, Dr. John Emethilue who is the Capoon of the Pyrates in Delta North disclosed that the lecture Guest Speaker is Austin Aleghe, SAN, former president Nigerian Bar. Association, while His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Executive Governor , Delta State is expected as Special Guest of Honour.
Dr. Emethilue added that the discussants at the event include high brow erudite and distinguished Nigerians like Asue Ighodalo, Esq. Chairman, Nigeria Economic summit Group, Mrs Aisha Falode, journalist and sports administrator.
He said others are Prof. Chukwuemeka Jaja Nwanegbo of Federal University Wukari and Rev. Fr. ( Dr.) Ikenga Oraegbunam, Clergy and Professor of Law. Mrs Funke Egbemode, renowned journalist and commissioner for Information, Osun State will serve as the moderator of the high profile event
The event will be taking place on Friday, 31 January, 2020 at Orchid Hotels DBS Road Asaba by 12 Noon.
While emphasising the role of judiciary and journalism as frontiers of Democracy, the Pyrates Capoon urged the general public.to attend the Lecture that the guest speaker and discussants are capable of proffering solutions to Issues hindering democratic governance.
“The annual Ralph Opara Memorial Lecture is one of NAS Int’l lecture series we use in proffering solutions to National and international pressing issues.” Dr. Emethilue stated.
