ASABA, Delta State, Thursday, February 1: In a bid to ensure high standard and infrastructural resilience at the ongoing construction of the Delta State International Conference Centre, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Project Monitoring/Audit, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, has called for the test reports on concrete and steel elements, as well as the drawings on the project.
Agbi who led a delegation of experts to inspect the construction site in Asaba on Thursday, February 1, 2024, conducted a thorough assessment of the project which at the time of the inspection had progressed to the roofing stage, with installation of roof trusses at advanced stage.
While expressing overall good impression with the project execution, so far, based on visual inspection, the Special Adviser however identified a snag in the superstructure that requires immediate attention.
He also called for the submission of detailed drawings and comprehensive test reports on concrete and steel elements to ensure the project’s structural integrity, quality and adherence to specifications.
His demands underscores the government’s steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards in public infrastructure delivery.
Looking ahead, Engr. Agbi announced that the project’s trajectory will be closely monitored through future visits, ensuring progress tracking and addressing challenges, to guarantee the timely and successful completion of the International Conference Centre which when completed would host top international conferences, seminars, workshops and draw thousands of visitors from across the globe annually to the state.
Others in the inspection and monitoring team comprising of high professionals include the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Project Monitoring and Audit, Mrs. Patricia Obiajulu Esejo, the Director DPMA, Mrs Ebitomo, three Executive Assistants to the State Governor on Project Monitoring/Audit – Sese Omu, Engr. Prosper Erah and Engr. Phillip Ugboma Chukwuma and four Senior Special Assistants – Pastor Kenneth Otuya, Engr. Tobowei Emmanuel, Engr. Oghale Efe-Aluta, Mr. Victor Ikerre and Engr Yebu Great.
