It is election time again, the masses will start hearing the same theme song ” Vote This, Vote That” wallowing round, probing through our speakers, jingles, radio programs, and tv shows every four years, sweet talking the masses as to why they are a better candidate as compared to their opponents.
This is the time they have a sense of equality, throttling down their pedals to the level of the ordinary Nigerian to hack into their conscience and win their votes.
Now is the common Nigerian turn to exercise their rightful power which they are magnificently doing like the Greek God Zeus.
Everyone is now hashtag “Obidients” ( #obidient ) which is trending having some hooking up to the wifi train that the destination is obscure.
But, who wouldn’t want to hook up to this free wifi train that is selling us, Obi, with credible credentials?
It is not surprising to anybody that there is an exodus of people glamouring for change and trying to unseat the political gladiators of old. Candidly speaking, we want a change but yet we are afraid of its outcome and the “what if” we didn’t consider before electing this incumbent villain. Oh yes, we solely desire a change but to whose cost and to whose gain?
Well, hypothetically speaking, let’s consider the gain and the loss of some gross political change in regions keeping in mind the reasons for having someone upstairs that shares the same tribal semblance and gain associated with it.
The northern massively voted for the APC because of the man who was presented was seen as their own and yet, we were divided, saying Jonathan must go because we felt he didn’t do well enough
That singular act has cost us much and today, no one would say that he is enjoying the scenario of today and we are regretting our actions
The Yorubas are singing the song of the APC because of Tinubu, having in mind what they would gain when he emerged as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but yet we have not asked, what’s our collective gains when either Obi or Tinubu emerged as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023?
The answer to the question has become imperative since our Ika Son is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a position that every Governor in the South-South and southeast was struggling to grab.
Now, the common question is why the fight to become a vice Presidential Candidate among the PDP if there was nothing beneficial?
Remember that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike has put up a fight against Atiku and other PDP National Working Committee for Choosing our Son, Brother who emerged victorious.
Should we join others to fight our own and relinquish what God has given us to put us on the path of growth and Development?
Do we still want to be enemies to ourselves, throwing out this God-given opportunity that others wished to grab? Knowing fully well that the said Obi-dient movement is igbo based?
The southeast youths are all throwing their weight behind their brother, brutally bambozing every other Presidential candidate’s supporters. The whole obi-dient supporters louding Obi on Twitter are 85% Igbo’s, given from their usernames and they are going as far as using Muslim names to give their movement a false spread.
The enthralling fact of all these is that the Igbo’s are doing everything possible to get hold of power. Whether we like it or not, choosing a leader has always been ethnically prejudiced. So, why will our own be different?
Having Okowa as the vice to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar is like a sure gate to the presidency.
I will not be lured off my franchise again because there is a proverbial quote that states “once beaten, twice shy” like Buhari charmed us with his campaign for copy “I am for everyone and for nobody”
Yes, some may be aggrieved like me writing this little piece because of how some of the Okowa’s aides behave, seeing themselves like a demiGod but should we allow that to discourage us? The answer should be NO!
Therefore, we must support, fight for our own, protect our own and push for the development of our land.
