The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta South Senatorial District, Delta State, on Saturday, in an enlarge meeting in Government House Annex Warri, passed a vote of confidence in the, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and his Deputy, Barrister (Deacon) Kingsley Otuaro Led Government for impressive performance so far in office.
The motion for the confidence vote was moved by the acting Majority Leader of State House of Assembly (DTHA) Hon. Kenneth Preyor and seconded by the Member representing Warri South 1 State Constituency, Hon. Austin Uroye, while the former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Franc Enekorogha, put the motion before leaders of the Party in Delta South Senatorial District, who returned a unanimous verdict.
The Meeting resolved that the confidence vote was occasioned by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s landscapes transformation, tackling youths unrests, result-oriented performance despite the insecurities ravaging the country stressing that his deputy, Barr. (Deacon) Kingsley Otuaro was a highly supportive deputy and has proved a real ambassador of the district in Government House.
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, who had earlier called on Deltans to remain committed to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration, pledged better times ahead and sued for patience at the well attended meeting of Party leaders drawn from the Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri areas and parts of Urhobo nation in the Senatorial District.
While thanking Party faithful for attending the meeting, supports given the Government so far, and the efforts they painstakingly put in retaining the Government in 2019, Otuaro appealed to the Party to repeat same in future Elections.
Otuaro, who maintained that Party members should pursue their aims/ambition with decorum with understanding peaceful electoral processes, noted that Party meetings are building blocks and purposefulness required to build bridges of winning Elections.
“Let us build the phenomena of peace. We should do the right thing always in other not to plunge our people into War. Let us have a relatively peaceful environment.” He added.
Affirming that the Okowa led administration want to enthrone a stronger Delta than what they met in 2015, Otuaro stated that the State Government was on course using vocational educational system and schemes to take unemployed youths from the streets.
While commending Dr Uduaghan for hosting the meeting, the Deputy Governor charged the PDP Delta South Senatorial District Chairman to keep doing the right thing that Party faithful were behind him.
Also speaking, the immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, who was the host of the meeting, appealed to party members to desist from any act of bitterness and acrimony from themselves. That Party unity brings peace and success.
Uduaghan, who frowned at those making hate speech from the Party, advised them to avoid completely, acts that were inimical to the growth of the party such as abusive words to each other, explaining that instead, they should concentrate on themselves by appealing to members to support and to vote for the party.
According to Uduaghan “Let us minimize hate speech because ‘WHO WILL BE WILL BE’ in all position when God say so. Let us not create enmities over elections that are not even holding this year. Let us not quarrel over elections. In our ambition for position, we should not destroy ourselves over elections.
“Let us forge unity. Let us not allow the process to tear us apart. We have a common and better future ahead. Let’s eschew divisiveness, caution our followers to avoid antagonism and character assassination. We are one people. As we keep politicking by the rules, God will crown our efforts with success.”
Uduaghan, who disclosed that he begged the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to hasten the inauguration of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), also commended the Party Senatorial District Chairman for the way he has handled the Party so far, and for given him the privilege and opportunity for hosting the Party leadership’s meeting.
Meanwhile, the Delta South PDP Chairman, Dr. Julius Takeme, disclosed that the purpose of the meeting was for an expansion of the Party in the District. Adding that it was to stretch their membership base. Saying “We need to build the base to expand on the goodwill we already have ahead of the 2023 Elections”.
According to Takeme, “Though the Party is very strong and in position to win all Elections in 2023, we call this meeting to brainstorm on how to make ourselves stronger, build the Party ahead of the 2023 Elections.
“The primary aim of the Party is to win Elections and satisfy the need of the people. This Exco will work for the Party without bias. We will build confidence repose on us. We will go round 8 local government areas to interact with members and know their challenges to discuss and resolved in future meetings”.
Takeme, who commended Otuaro, Uduaghan and other leaders present at the meeting, urged aggrieved members to bring complain to the Party Secretariat at Okere Road in Warri. That Party strives on membership unity.
He appealed to all party faithful to continue their unalloyed love and support for the party, stressing that the meeting was also packaged to reposition themselves for higher performance in all elections.
According to Julius Takeme, “Nigerians expected change that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, central government has proved unable to give. Never have Nigerians been largely united in prayers and our prayers have been answered. PDP will not only retain Delta State in 2023 but will, by God, take over the central government.
Earlier, speaker after speaker including Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, Architect Joseph Ogieh, Hon. Solomon Areyinka, concurred with Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who had cautioned: “Let not our individual aspirations divide us, let us come together as a party in the fight to win the 2023 general elections.
“We are firmed, United, indivisible and ready to deliver all votes to our Party, PDP”. Said Amgbaduba.
The meeting, attracted personalities from all works of life including eminent members of the party such as Sen. James Manager, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe, Hon. Michael Diden, Rtd. Wing Commander P. Y Biakpara, Hon. Irene Imilar, Hon. Evelyn Avro amongst others.
