The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Core-Supporters Network (PCSN) Delta State Chapter has commended Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa for his intervention on the failed sections of the Warri-Sapele-Benin road in order to reduce the sufferings of road users on the federal highway.
The commendation was made by members of the PCSN following directives by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to State Ministry of Works to visit the road site and work out possible ways of intervention on the deplorable spot of the road.
In a statement signed by the State Coordinator PCSN, Hon. Alfred Etugbo and released by the group Public Relation Officer, Comrade, Kanabar Duke, the PDP Core-Supporters Network, commended the governor for entrenching the frontiers of commitment and concern by coming to the plight of Deltans and others plying the Warri-Sapele-Benin highway.
The group noted that, though the Warri-Sapele-Benin road is a Federal highway and should be the responsibilty of the Federal government, the proactive step taken by Governor Okowa is a clear demostration of the fact that he was disturbed by the plight of the people who ply the road and decries the man hour and economic loss the road is causing to traders, business and other investors.
PCSN noted that, though the federal government has not paid for previous repairs done by Governor Okowa, he still went on doing this. They added that, it is only a leader who understand that, the comfort and wellbeing of people is pivotal to the development of any society, that can embark on such gesture despite the numerous challenges being saddled with.
The PDP Core-Supporters Network use the statement to called on the Federal government to be alive to its responsibilties by ensuring that infrastructural and other challenges that falls within its perimeter are quickly looked into and addressed. They argued that challenges that falls within the federal government jurisdiction should not be left for States to handle, adding that the State governors are already saddled with a lot of responsibilities of meeting the needs of their State.
The group noted that Governor Okowa since his assumption of office in 2015 has continued to demostrate high level of purposeful leadership and commitment especially in the development of the state and ensuring the security and wellbeing of all Deltans.
PSCN in the statement also laud the effort of Governor Okowa over the recent commisioning of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 25 Asaba of the Nigeria Police Force in other to boost the security of the area and enhance the productivity of the Police in fighting crime in the State.
PDP Core-Supporters Network concluded by calling for the continued support of the Governor Okowa-led administration by all in order to encourage the governor to do more.
