The Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will spread development in such a way that all Deltans will be happy, Sir Monday Onyeme has said.
Sir Onyeme, who is the Deputy Governor of Delta State, gave the assurance on Thursday at Government House, Asaba, when Chief Isaac Onyesom led political leaders and members of Umukwata, Ward 4, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state to pay him a congratulatory visit.
According to the Deputy Governor, it is the desire of the governor to ensure that no community is left behind in its development master plan, adding that what is required of the people is to live in unity.
He stated that elections are over and Deltans should come together as a united and peaceful people.
“The election is over; of a truth, it is not everybody that voted for PDP; the joy is that most Deltans voted for PDP, some people voted for other political parties, and few people never wished that we win in the election, but God made it possible that we won.
“So, after our victory at the polls, we are facing squarely the business of providing good governance for our people, the good people of Delta State.
“At the House of Assembly, we listen to honourable members speaking, and some of them will say that they represent the good and bad people of so so and so constituency, we laugh over it, but that is the truth; as someone who is holding an elective position, you are not representing only the people that voted for you, you represent the people that voted for you and those that did not vote for you; you are even representing the people who did not vote at all.
“So, we need to be united and as a united people, we will enjoy the benefits of democracy; the dividends of democracy which will spread to all Deltans could lead those who did not vote for us in this election to vote for us in the next election; so, living in unity is very important,” Sir Onyeme said.
He commended Umukwata community for voting for the PDP and thanked them for the visit, asserting,, “it is our desire to ensure that the people are happy that they elected us into government, so, I want to assure you that we will do the much that we can to ensure that every kingdom, every community get its own fare share of development; we will be happier if all Deltans are happy.”
Earlier, Chief Onyesom, on behalf of the Umukwata Community Political leaders, felicitated with Sir Onyeme on his assumption of office, noting that it is on record that he is the first Ndokwa man to be the Deputy Governor of Delta State.
Chief Onyesom on behalf of the people expressed some challenges in terms of infrastructural development and appealed to the state government to provide electricity, health centre as well as construct the newly approved Secondary School at Owah-Abbi, among others.
