The Delta State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro has challenged members of the Delta State Christians Pilgrim Welfare Board to ensure water tight screening exercise for intending pilgrims to the Holy land to checkmate the issue of abscondment by pilgrims.
Deacon Otuaro stated this yesterday when he received members of the Delta State Christians Welfare Board led by its Chairman, Most Reverend Cyril Odutemu during a courtesy visit in his office.
The Deputy Governor said the Board members should work collectively to stop the issue of abscondment of pilgrims noting that a good working relationship was key in achieving desired
results.
He charged the Chairman and members of the Board to change the narrative of abscondment by pilgrims from the state stressing that previous Boards did not live up to expectations.
The Deputy Governor admitted that there was need for a reasonable number of persons to go for pilgrimage from Delta state adding that the task on the new board was enormous being their first assignment.
Deacon Otuaro while thanking the church and clergymen for their unflinching support to the Okowa administration said the Board should focus more on spiritual content and on the spiritual welfare of Deltans.
He commended the Commissioner Bureau for Special Duties,Mr Omamofe Pirah for his ability in effectively discharging his duties saying that he had no doubt in his ability.
Deacon Otuaro noted that he was passionate about the Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board and advised the members to make the state proud.
The Chairman, Delta State Christian Welfare Board, Most Reverend Cyril Odutemu said the visit was to intimate the Deputy Governor that the Board was preparing for another pilgrimage as members have attended two strategic meeting.
While noting that the Board would commit to prayer for Delta State and the nation, Most Reverend Odutemu thanked the state government for their appointment as members of the Board.
He solicited the support of the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro towards the exercise and commended the state government for its efforts in its fight against Covid 19 and the distribution of relief materials .
Most Reverend Odutemu who is also the Archbishop of Bendel Province of the Anglican Communion commended the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro describing him as a true child of God and the Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr Omamofe Pirah for his sterling leadership qualities in supervising the Board.
