The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has assured the people of Emu of government attention in the state.
Sir Onyeme gave the assurance in his office, Government House, Asaba, when the people of Emu Clan paid him a courtesy visit.
He said the demand of Emu people, concerning the rehabilitation of Ebendo-Ashaka Road, was genuine and important to the people of the area, noting that it was long overdue.
“I have heard all that you have said which are genuine and if I have the power, I would have approved all of them.
“I know that the Ebendo-Ashaka Road is very important to all of us. It is a road that everyone of us will desire to see resurfaced.
“Each time we travel through that road, our hearts bleed because of the nature of the road. So, we are going to put it into prayers,” he emphasised.
The deputy governor expressed joy that the Ebendo-Ashaka Road project was in the last budget and asked the Permanent Secretary in his office to get the file and all relevant documents on the road project for necessary action.
Sir Onyeme thanked the people of Emu Kingdom for their support during the election.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank you. I am very sure that without your efforts, I will not be seating here today,” he added.
While responding to the demand of the people on appointments, the deputy governor told them that Emu people had benefited from the previous administration, but assured them that he would do everything within his power for some of them to be given appointments.
Earlier, High Chief Mgbabego Godday, who spoke at the instance of the leaders of the Emu Community, appealed to Sir Onyeme to use his good office to look into the rehabilitation of Emu Ebendo-Asaka Road, measuring 7.8 kilometers and leading to major communities in Ndokwa Nation.
He congratulated Sir Onyeme on his victory at the polls and subsequent swearing in and assumption of office, and listed other internal roads in dare need of government attention, which included the Emunor Road, Emu-Obodeti Road, Emu- Iboma Road and the Emu- Isiele Road.
