Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and Deputy President of the 9th Senate, has warmly welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and a host of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and members into the APC, describing the move as a “historic milestone” for the state and the party.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Omo-Agege praised the decision as a major endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that it reflects the growing faith in the APC’s capacity to drive growth, unity, and development across Nigeria.
“We wholeheartedly welcome His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all PDP leaders and members to our great party,” Omo-Agege declared. “This development reaffirms our collective commitment to delivering progressive governance and a brighter future for Delta State and Nigeria.”
The APC leader assured party faithful that discussions with national leadership, the Progressive Governors Forum, and Delta stakeholders were ongoing to ensure a smooth and inclusive transition. He urged all APC members across the state’s LGAs and wards to turn out massively for a grand reception in honor of the new entrants scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba.
Omo-Agege also expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, and the National Working Committee for their strategic leadership, which he credited with making the political breakthrough possible.
“Together, in this renewed spirit of brotherhood, we will work tirelessly to achieve greatness for Delta State and for Nigeria,” he affirmed.
The defection of Governor Oborevwori and other PDP leaders is expected to significantly reshape the political landscape of Delta State ahead of future elections, strengthening the APC’s position in the South-South region.
