Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has extolled the virtues of renowned academic and elder statesman, Professor Samuel W. E. Ibodje, describing him as a beacon of great intellect and wisdom as he marks his 85th birthday.
In a heartfelt message, Senator Omo-Agege celebrated Prof. Ibodje’s remarkable contributions to academia and nation-building, particularly his advocacy for the Niger Delta region.
“You have always been, and will always remain, a parental figure to everyone around you. Your endless wisdom and great intellect can guide us through the darkest of paths into the light,” Omo-Agege said.
Prof. Ibodje, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, has held various distinguished academic positions and played a significant role in shaping education in Nigeria.
Beyond the academic world, Senator Omo-Agege noted that Prof. Ibodje has been a consistent voice in the agitation for the rights and fair treatment of oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta, championing equity within the Nigerian federation.
The Senator prayed for continued health, peace, and divine protection for the respected scholar and Niger Delta leader.
