Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta, has stated that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led government priority is outright theft.
Omo-Agege made the allegation statement at an interactive session he held with Delta civil servants on Monday, at the Grand-Hotels Asaba.
He noted that Delta State has no modern infrastructure and public assets are brazenly and viciously targeted, stripped and corruptly traded to cronies for peanuts.
While lamenting that the State have been plundered with impunity, corruption, ethnic hate and nepotism of epidemic proportions now drive government decisions and policies, the Delta Central lawmaker said unconscionable public borrowing was at an all-time high, with borrowed funds being corruptly wasted. That due process does not matter anymore.
Omo-Agege, who made a commitment and promises to be fair, just and equitable in the management of the state’s resources if elected, noted that the speculation that ten thousand naira was alleged to have been paid
to Delta State Civil Servants by the State Government was an insult to the workers said “I will not offer you N10,000 instead, I will offer you your 13th month salary. Arrears and all privileges will be paid. Workers Training and Retraining Privileges will be granted to workers because the civil service is the bedrock of the government.
.
“I will be fair; I will be just and I will be equitable in the management of the resources of the state. We are all equals and all Deltans. All part of the state will receive equal development
.
“No senatorial district, no ethnic nationality would be marginalized on account of ethnic nationality. We are all equal and we are all people of Delta”.
He gave the assurance that all Universities established by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led Government would be funded adequately and that no employment would be terminated when he comes into power. Adding that “our schools are neglected, and standards are on a free fall, with uneducated and poorly educated minds presiding over the education of our children.
“It is ironic and troubling that some people in government who had the opportunity of free standard public education are now the ones actively destroying the public school system which has historically offered the children of the poor hope of good education and a decent future.
“These only reaffirm the dangerous governance decay that the PDP represents”.
On accrued pension and retirement benefits of retirees, the Delta APC Governorship candidate urged the Pensioners and Retirees in the State to do anything within their power to stay alive to enjoy their benefits, assuring them that their days of pain would soon be over as he plans to liquidate pension liabilities within 6-month of assumption of office.
Omo-Agege noted that “today’s Delta is a place where workers and retirees/pensioners are insulted and denied their rights, entitlements and benefits, and abandoned to die.
“The PDP has instituted a system that drives old and ageing Deltans, including teachers and health workers who have dedicated their lives to serve our people, to die before their time”.
