The President of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on community Development, Olorogun Tony Ofoni has declared to contest for the Uvwie State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly come 2023.
Olorogun Ofoni who during the week officially informed his ward Executives and Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, ward 7 Uvwie Local Government Area of his intention to run for the Uvwie State Constituency, solicited for the support and prayers from his ward, noting that, ward 7 is the only ward in Uvwie that has not occupied any elective office since its creation.
According to him; “I am here to formally inform my people of ward 7, that I, Olorogun Tony Ofoni, after due consultation with God, my conscience and proper deliberation with some critical stakeholders, have decided to contest the Uvwie State Constituency seat.
The desire to make our dear Constituency an envy of all is my utmost priority, i decided to throw my hat into this contest to fulfil the part of my passion in contributing my best quota towards developing Uvwie Kingdom,
I therefore appeal to you all to join this team and call for your support for us to make history for a better Uvwie Local Government”.
Olorogun Ofoni assured that, if given the chance come 2023 into the State House of Assembly, his top priority will be to explore the frontiers of best democratic dividend to Uvwie local government.
Responding, Hon Kelly Otuedon, estwhile Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Uvwie Local Government Area who spoke with enthusiasm, said, the initiative by Olorogun Ofoni was a welcome development.
According to him, this is exactly what he has been praying for that ward 7 is due for elective office and his so happy that someone like Olorogun Ofoni who has paid his due at the ward, local government and state level is coming out for an elective position. He promising to stand by him both in thick and thin, he prayed for him to excel in his aspiration.
The Ward Chairman, Mr Julius Otuedon, advised Olorogun Ofoni to consult other critical stakeholders in the Local Government and continue to seek God’s face in the contest, because power belongs to God.
Other Party stalwarts could not hide their joy and support, described Ofoni as a square peg in a round hole. They noted that, Ofoni has been a rally point in the ward, adding that, with his position as an appointee he has shown capacity in human capital development. They posited that, if given this opportunity to go to the House of Assembly, ward 7 and Uvwie will benefit immensely.
