Executive Assistant on Orientation and Communication to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe, has attributed the peaceful coexistence among ethnic nationalities in the state to the detribalized leadership style and ongoing strategic implementation of the MORE agenda by his Boss, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
Oghenesivbe made the assertion on Tuesday, while speaking as a guest on national radio in Lagos, saying that governor Oborevwori is focused on fulfilling electioneering promises encapsulated in his MORE socioeconomic blueprint that was presented to the electorates in the state during the governorship election.
He disclosed that the state governor is loved by all Deltans, because of his genuine desire to upscale the dividends of democracy through result oriented social welfare Programmes, as can be seen from the payment of outstanding promotion areas to civil servants, and other proactive steps taken so far to spread development to the three Senatorial Districts through mega infrastructure projects.
Oghenesivbe who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation Bureau, DSOB, further posited that the ongoing construction of three flyovers, road expansion and pedestrian bridges at DSC Roundabout, PTI junction, Effurun Junction and Enerhen Junction awarded to construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, will further boost commercial activities in Delta South and Delta Central senatorial districts when completed.
He said governor Oborevwori will continue to put the people first, speed up quality delivering of all going projects including the Ughelli-Asaba dualization road projects, ongoing palliative repairs of federal road along Abraka-Ubiaruku and environs, as well as regular inspection of new road projects across the three senatorial districts.
“Delta is very peaceful because governor Oborevwori is doing the needful through good governance. His detribalized leadership style had also contributed significantly to the inestimable measure of peaceful coexistence among Deltans, and shall be sustained throughout the life span of this administration.
“It will interest you to know that within six months in the saddle, the governor awarded important contracts aimed at bringing development closer to the people, in the upland and riverine communities. No part of the state would be left undeveloped during his two years tenure of eight years.
“Everywhere is calm in Delta State. Infact, the opposition political parties and their leaders are amazed, dumfounded and positively overwhelmed by the speed of development and quality leadership displayed so far by governor Oborevwori, and it shall be sustained for eight years unhindered.
“Of course, the recent flag off of the N78billion flyovers and road expansion projects in Delta Central and Delta South senatorial districts is still very fresh in the memory of citizens of the state. It’s first of it’s kind since the creation of Delta State. They call it Sheriff wonders.
“Delta State Executive Council (EXCO), recently gave approval for the disbursement of the sum of N3, 887,277,784.66 billion under the D-CARES implementation programme of the state government being second reimbursement from the World Bank. It was disbursed through direct cash transfer, FADAMA, to enhance human capital development.
“The governor is also worried about the negative effects of global warming, and he is working out strategies to boost clean energy, sensitize the people about the hazards of bush burning, cutting down forests and burning of fossil fuels.
“It is obvious that Governor Oborevwori is tackling climate change through multifaceted ways and means, and very much ready to partner with major stakeholders on the aspect of importation of electric cars and buses for transportation, so as to drastically reduce and/or eliminate burning of fossil fuels known to be one of the major causes of global warming.
“Government of Delta State, through the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr Kingsley Emu, also appealed for international partnership for climate change Sensitization, and joint partnership to boost clean energy at the just concluded Climate Change Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“The State Orientation Bureau will embark on climate change sensitization across the three senatorial districts, to educate our people about the dangers of bush burning, cutting down forests and so on and so forth. We shall drive the sensitization programme vigorously to attain government goals.
“It’s obvious that in the coming year, 2024, governor governor will deliver more and more quality dividends of democracy to Deltans, as we earnestly pray for the financial fortunes of the state to soar significantly, and to remain on top consistently, going forward.
“His prime focus is to Advance Delta in all ramifications, and to place her in the front role of economically viable and fast developing states in Nigeria,” Oghenesivbe assured.
