The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Deputy Governor’s Office, Dr. Anthony Nwokolobia, has eulogized the exemplary life style of late Mrs. Veronica Adugbo, mother-in-law to a Deputy Director in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Dorathy Adugbo, saying she was a virtuous and God fearing woman.
Dr. Nwokolobia made the assertion in Orogun during the burial ceremony of the deceased who died at the age of 91 years.
He said that death was always painful because it is a departure of a very close person and someone one would not see again, adding that apart from Mrs. Dorathy Adugbo being a staff of the Deputy Governor, her husband, Barr. Monday Adugbo whose mother was being buried was his close friend.
Dr. Nwokolobia, who stated that they were in Orogun to commiserate with the family of Adugbo on the demise of their mother, reiterated that in retrospect when one remembers the love that existed between mother and son, the lose of that loved one would be painful.
Earlier in an interview with journalists, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Civil Service, Engr. Blessing Edewor explained that the death of every individual irrespective of age was always a painful experience , stressing that the deceased died at the ripe age of 91 years.
Engr. Edewor stated that from every indication the deceased impacted positively on humanity and the children in particular, emphasizing that she was a peace loving woman and a bridge builder.
He admonised the children to emulate the gesture of their mother and sustain her legacies.
Responding, the Chief mourner/celebrant, Barr. Monday Adugbo described his mother as a woman of substance, recalling that the deceased was the pillar of the family.
Barr. Adugbo stated that their mother was a caring and kindhearted woman that gave them the foundation to stand in life and pledged to sustain the legacies, especially the unity which according to him their mother stood for just as he lauded every well meaning individual and well-wishers for identifying with his family.
Dignitaries that attended the burial included two former Head of Service, Mr. Okey Ofili and Sir Paul Evuarhare, Mr. Lucky Omokri , a retired Functioning Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information as well as staff of Ministry of Information, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and that of the Deputy Governor’s Office among others.
