As part of the activities marking the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council 2019 Press Week, the leadership of the Union on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, visited some members currently facing health challenges as well past leaders who have contributed to the development of the Union in one way or the other.
The team led by the Delta State Council NUJ Chairman Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and some State Executive members visited Comrades Gabriel Awodegha publisher of Delta Periscope and member of Isoko Correspondence Chapel in Ughelli, former State Chairman Bernard Okpu formerly of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Asaba and Tunde Andrews of Silverbird Television in Asaba.
The State Chairman Comrade Michael Ikeogwu noted that one of the activities marked for 2019 Press Week was to visit past leaders and members that were not strong in health to participate if there were any, to inform them that they were not forgotten and to seek blessings from past leaders.
While thanking former State Chairman Comrade Bernard Okpu for his warm reception despite the short notice, Comrade Ikeogwu disclosed that the Union has been praying fervently for Gov. Okowa to help the NUJ complete and furnish the Press Center which was one of the dreams of Comrade Okpu when he was State Chairman.
In their remarks, the trio who could not hide their excitement, expressed joy and gratefulness that the Union remembered them in their Press Week.
They all prayed for the Union to succeed and grow higher than expected.
Highlights of the visitation included donations of cash gift and drinks to support the Christmas celebrations of the members, by the Delta NUJ and to pray with them
