The six quarters of Nsukwa community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have organized a thanksgiving service, with a call by Obi Kenneth Ezegbunem I for greater unity among the indigenes.
The thanksgiving was organized at the Obis Square on December 31, 2023, at the instance of the youths of Nsukwa community, bringing together sons and daughters of the community to appreciate God for his blessings.
In his remarks, the Obi of Nsukwa Kingdom, Obi Ezegbunem I said greater peace and unity would attract more dividends of democracy in the community. He said the thanksgiving service “has been a way to appreciate God for his numerous blessings, protections and for peaceful co-existence among indigenes of Nsukwa.”
The traditional ruler enjoined the youths to shun any act of wickedness but use your resources to support the growth and development of the kingdom, saying that development can only thrive where there is peace.
In his sermon titled Dangers of Disunity, chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nsukwa unit, Bishop Christopher Livingstone, admonished the congregation on greater peace and unity, saying that any community without unity would lack the vision to move forward. The clergyman enjoined the indigenes to give full support to Obi Kenneth Ezegbunem I, describing him as a God-fearing king.
Those who spoke included Senior Special Assistant (S.S.A.) to the Governor on Community Development, Mr. Kennedy Ochei, Special Assistant (S.A.) to the Governor on Youth Mobilization who is the youth president of Nsukwa Community, Hon. Pius Okocha, organiser of the Nsukwa thanksgiving service, Apostle Isaac Ifechukwude, while it was anchored by a broadcaster and renowned community development crusader, Comrade Sebastian Ikpoza.
Ochei assured the people that their complains would be communicated to the State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sherrif Oborevwori for immediate resolution, while Apostle Ifechukwude, while commending the leadership style of the Obi, said the prophesies from the clergy inspired the programme.
The ceremony featured an interdenominational church service, prayers by Obi Ezegbunem I as well as by various religious leaders for the peace and progress of Nsukwa Kingdom.
