The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Delta State Command has landed into troubled water, following the disappearance of 8pieces of truck tyres worth over 720,000, at 90,000 each, belonging to a road construction company where they secure.
Trouble according to inside sources started when about 13pieces of tyres purchased on the 9th of February 2021, to be fixed on the company’s trucks, were stolen under the watchful eyes of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Delta State Command, leaving only 5pieces.
According to findings, on the 10th of February, the company’s store keeper, name withheld, called the NSCDC officials at the close of work that faithful day, and notified them NSCDC of the tyres, which they all counted and record taken, only for the workers to resume for work the following day, and discovered that 8tyres, out of the 13tyres, have been stolen, leaving only 5pieces.
It was reliably gathered that the NSCDC officials discovered the missing tyres earlier before the resumption of work, and immediately put a call as early as 6:53am to the store keeper, notifying him of the missing tyres, and wanted him to come for them to know how to handle the matter, but he disclosed to them that there was nothing to be handled in matters of such magnitude, and immediately placed a notice to the company’s Managing Director.
Later, the NSCDC officials invited him the store keeper to put up a written statement as the complainant, which he obliged. They pleaded with him to please cooperate wand assist them in their investigation to unravel those involved.
Few days later, the store keeper was invited together with the company’s Chief Security Officer CSO, he also honoured the invitation.
Days later for the third time, he was alone invited again.
Following their poor investigation according to the company’s sources, they now devices means to get the store keeper who was the complainant arrested as the prime suspect.
That the management of the company has opposed, and blamed them for poor security watch.
It will be recalled that few days ago, the company’s Asphalt plant at Ubulu-Okiti in Oshimili North local government of Delta State was attacked by armed robbers after the only male NSCDC official among the female shot one of the armed robbers who recently attacked a suspected politician along the highway, and killed a lady, after carting away millions of naira.
The company’s sources disclosed that when the male NCSDC officer shot one of the robbers, the bullet couldn’t penetrate, the robbers in anger entered into the company’s compound, and started shooting sporadically, the NSCDC together with most of the staff of the company got injured while climbing the perimeter fence, in a bid to save their lives from the unfriendly bullets of the marauders.
Watchers of the event are however worried why the complainant who has been assisting the corps is now being tipped, and good to be arrested, after the NSCDC failed in their both responsibility of securing the company’s properties, and also conducting a thorough investigation for the arrest of the culprits.
A company source while expressing his displeasure with the conducts of the NSCDC asked why should they be the prosecutor in a matter they ought to be the accused, and concluded by calling for the intervention of Human Right bodies, to end the abuse of office.

Sources in the know, disclosed that the men of NSCDC were alleged to have been have occupied with the extortion of motorists at night hours, along the highway. Leaving the company they were paid to secure.
One of the company’s staff who spoke rytorically asked how can the NSCDC who failed in all ramifications of securing the company’s properties, and conducting thorough investigation, who also ought to be the accused, now turn to be the prosecutor in their own matter. He concluded by calling on Human Right organisation to come into the matter, and have it reposed once and for all.
When an sms was sent to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, he declined response.
Watchers of the drama are however watching and waiting to know how this show of shame will be resolved, time will indeed tell.
