Professor Olufemi Ayinde Peters, a Nigerian academic and researcher, who is currently the Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), is to deliver the 1st Stanza of the 2024 University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) worldwide Lecture.
The lecture, with the theme “Unlimited Consequences of Federal Government Policies — IPPIS/ TSA/GIFMIX on Federal Universities in Nigeria”, is scheduled for 4pm on Friday, May 3, 2024, at The Dame Edith Okowa Auditorium, Dr. Michael Omolayole Alumni Complex, University of Ibadan, UI, Ibadan.
The high-ranking Professor Olufemi Peters, who is also the first Vice President of The African Council for Distance Education (ACDE), with a track record of academic excellence spanning three decades, including many competencies in the area of Open Distance Learning (ODL), holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of Ibadan (1979), a Masters’ degree in Polymer Science and Technology from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, (1982) and a PhD in Degradation and Stabilisation in Polymers from Victoria University of Manchester, UK (1988).
Peters is a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Society as well.
Briefing newsmen in Ibadan, the Worldwide Treasurer of UIAA, Dr. Oyinade Olujimi Tomori, PhD, Chairman of the Lecture organizing Committee, said “we are excited to have Professor Olufemi Peters, a Polymer Degradation Stabilizer cum human capital development expert, deliver the UIAA 2024 First Stanza Lecture series on an issue that is central to our country’s educational system”.
She noted that the UIAA Lectures is all about proffering solutions to challenges of the society.
Dr. Tomori asserted that “the lecture will be chaired by another great UIte and first-rate human capital and business development expert, Mr. Akin Akinfemiwa, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Geregu Power Plant PLC, Forte Oil etc. He holds a B.sc Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Business Administration (information Technology) from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, United Kingdom.
“Expected guests at the lecture include government officials, members of the academic community, Members of UIAA worldwide, oil and gas industry executives, captains of industry, banking and finance executives, maritime executives, legal practitioners, ICT professionals, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of multilateral institutions, media practitioners, and members of the public.”
