Against the backdrop of the continued tide of the dreaded Covid-19 Pandemic, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Uvwie Local Government Council, has appealed to the Delta State Government for the establishment of isolation and testing centres in the local government area.
An official of the agency in the local government area, Mrs Eseosa Roli Popo, made the appeal while speaking to newsmen in her office in Uvwie.
She noted that Uvwie was an urbanised area with a huge population and that the closest isolation centre to the area was in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
“Affected persons in Uvwie do not have private facilities for isolation and testing for the pandemic, ” Mrs Popo noted.
She also noted that most affected persons did not know that they were affected and that such ignorance would escalate the spreading of the pandemic faster, if there was no testing centre in the area.
The NOA official also disclosed that her biological mother just recovered from the infection of covid-19 and that her mother was taken to Stella Obasanjo Isolation Centre in Edo State where she was treated free of charge.
Popo further reasoned that opening of isolation and testing centres in Uvwie local government areas would also serve other nearby local government areas, such as Okpe, Udu and Warri South local government areas in the state.
