Convener of the David Edevbie Movement’23, Comr. Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola has reacted to the recent outburst by the illegal faction of the Urhobo Progressive Union led by one Ufuoma Duru Nixon where they wilfully threw caution to the wind by not only openly declaring support for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborrevwori but also requesting Olorogun David Edevbie to withdraw his case from the Supreme Court.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Comr. Wojuola noted that the position taken by the impostors were not just distasteful but also prejudicious to the People’s Democratic Party. He stated that the illegal faction hurriedly took a stand without understanding the subject matter.
“It is distasteful that in this twenty first century, some hatchet young men would sit together to make meaningless, incoherent statements and expect sound people to oblige their irrational requests. I wonder how this same illegal faction of UPU, who were loudly silent when an illustrious son of the Urhobo nation, Olorogun David Edevbie was declared as the valid candidate of the party by a Federal High Court in Abuja, now all of a sudden after receiving some lean-coins from enemies of Urhobo Nation, now have the impetus to request the same David Edevbie not to head to the Supreme Court because of Urhobo unity, didn’t they think about the same Urhobo unity when Sheriff went to Appeal Court against the Federal High Courts judgement?.”
“It is more worrisome that this same set of youths, who mostly claim to be educated, failed to understand that the role of the court in our society is not to ‘further divide’ as they erroneously posited, but to provide justice to those who seek it! Well, little wonder they threw their weight behind who they did, remember, birds of a feather always flock together!!”
Speaking on how the judgement affects the party, Comr. Wojuola stated that if Olorogun David Edevbie fails to go to the Supreme Court the opposition would have a field day at the court as no pronouncement was made by the judge as regards the allegations brought forward by David Edevbie’s lawyers, hence the possibility of the APC to resurrect the case again when the PDP wins at the general elections.
It would be recalled that unlike the grief and shock that was felt in the opposition camp when the Federal High Court ruling that declared Olorogun David Edevbie as the valid candidate of the PDP was read, the APC in Delta State celebrated the appeal court ruling which favored Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborrevwori, where they also described him as the weakest link in the forthcoming general elections.
