Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliation have been told to see themselves as the cure to the socio-economic, political, security and infrastructural challenges bedevilling the country.
The Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro gave the advice at Potters’ House Church Warri, during a thanksgiving service held in honour of Barr. Ama Etuwewe who was recently elevated to the position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, in the legal profession.
Barr. Otuaro noted that, Nigeria is going through a mirage of problems because nobody has taken it as a point of duty to be the needed change the country is yearning for.
“As God’s children, we are endowed with power. We have the God given power to effect the needed change in our society. Too many things are going wrong and we must as children powered by God, given our diverse position and authority, we must stand to ensure that we do the right and effect the change this country badly needed. We must be part of the solution to the sinking Nigeria”. Barr. Otuaro stated.
The state deputy governor while congratulating Barr. Ama Etuwewe on his promotion as SAN, charged him to see it as a call to bring the needed hope and paradigm shift in the legal profession.
Barr. Otuaro used the occasion to thank the church for their prayers for the State and the nation pointing out that, the country is still one because of the intercession of clergymen from different denominations.
In reeling out his journey to becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ama Etuwewe, noted that, his dream to enhance the practice of law and drive to fight injustice in the society was not quenched by just been a corpo-rate lawyer, rather, his dream of practicing the business of law was inflexible.
Etuwewe (SAN), noted that although the exercise was fraught with hitches, challenges and hiccups, God in his usual manner, cleared all obstacles barricading his becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Ama Etuwewe (SAN), expressed thanks to God and all who in one way or the other encouraged him in his quest of becoming a SAN. “By the grace of God which betters human understanding I was awarded the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on 23rd, September, 2019 and sworn in to the Inner Bar, and becoming the 10th lawyer in Warri, Delta State to be conferred with the rank of SAN. According to William Jennings Bryan, ” Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for. It is a thing to be achieved”.
Earlier, in a thought provoking sermon, the General Overseer, Potters’ House Church, Pastor Banabas Okunola, said, being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria ,SAN, is a distinguish award in the legal profession that also carries national responsibilty.
Pastor Okunola, said Nigeria is sinking everyday not because of political, security, and infrastructural decay but that the nation is under seige because Nigerians are failing to take responsibilty of building the nation.
According to him, the society is sinking and needs citizens who are ready to build and those who will destroy the nation.
“Irrespective of your position, wealth or how rich you maybe claiming to be, you cannot be prospering in Nigeria when Nigeria is poor, you are a poor man. We should become a solution to our national problem. Use your position and apply yourself to good deeds”. Pastor Okunola stated.
