The lawmaker representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ogbueshi Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, has mourned the late Omu Anioma, Obi Martha Dunkwu, saying she was an inspiring soul, always there for all who came to her with their troubles or to seek advice.
In a personal tribute to the deceased titled ‘A TRIBUTE TO OUR DEAR OMU OKPANAM/ANIOMA. OBI MARTHA DUNKWU’, the National Assembly (NASS) lawmaker said that his relationship with the late Omu was of a mother and her favourite son spanning over a decade.
While extolling the consumate Public Relations turned Omu’s integrity and her remarkable character, Ngozi Okolie said “It was with very heavy heart that I heard the news of the passing of our dear mother, announced today the 18th of February 2024”. Adding that the late Omu had always associated herself with the progress and development of her people.
According to Ngozi Okolie, “Aniocha /Oshimili, Delta and Nigeria as a whole had lost a crusader for peace, stability and unity at a time her services were still badly needed by the country.
“To the entire Anioma people, she was one great Omu who proudly promoted our culture and tradition, she sold Anioma to the world and we were all proud to identify ourselves as Anioma people…
“She taught us love, patience and endurance. …
Omu, displayed the stool and truly showed she was born to be an Omu. She will be remembered for her courage, humility, love, eloquence, gentleness and peaceful disposition.
“Omu was a woman of great strength. Nigeria will miss her, Delta will miss her, Anioma will miss her. Our Aniocha Oshimili will surely miss her. I commiserate with the entire Anioma people, especially my dear Okpanam brothers and sisters on the passing of this great virtuous woman.
“May GOD forgive her earthly shortcomings, grant her eternal rest.”
