The senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, has met with the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engineer Chukwuemeka Agbasi.
The meeting that held on Tuesday, September 24, followed the Senate’s resumption after its eight-week recess.
The Senator raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the Lagos-Asaba Expressway, specifically the stretch between Alifekide and Asaba Bridge End, which he said has become hazardous and has resulted in numerous fatalities.
Nwoko stressed that the road’s poor condition continues to endanger both lives and properties, affecting surrounding communities and road users.
Furthermore, the lawmaker urged Agbasi to give urgent attention to this particular federal road.
In response, Engineer Agbasi assured the Senator that prompt action would be taken to address the deteriorated sections of the road.
Meanwhile, Senator Nwoko, in a post on X Tuesday evening, hinted that earlier in the day, he also spoke with the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who confirmed that contractors would be mobilized to the site without further delays.
“I want to take this opportunity to commend all ministers, MD/CEOs, Heads of Departments, and other government officials who are diligently fulfilling their responsibilities,” he wrote.
