Sprint sensation Favour Oghenetejiri Ashe has arrived Uyo ahead of the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival.
The US based Ashe who burst unto the Nigerian athletics scene in 2022 after becoming the 12th Nigerian to run sub 10 seconds in the 100 meters, arrived Uyo on Tuesday alongside his Team Delta counterparts for the Niger Delta Sports Festival and is one of the top favorites to claim gold in the 100 meters and 200 meters male event.
Ashe who led Nigeria’s male relay team at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Oregon has been in strong form this year and is expected to improve on his performances when he faces other athletes from the other states in the Niger Delta.
The sprinter nick named thee Nigerian Nightmare has a personal best of 9.94 seconds in the 100 meters.

He is yet to kick start the current season and is expected to use the Niger Delta Sports Festival to kick start this season as he aims to return to the World Championship later in the year.
The opening ceremony of the games is expected to hold on Wednesday at the Uyo Township Stadium with over 4000 athletes and officials billed to be in attendance.
