Ahead of this year’s NDEGRAM Golden Jubilee celebrations, an inaugural meeting of the Planning Committee have been held with a resolved that the Jubilee will be a ground breaking occassion for a landmark project for the institution.
In an opening remarks at the meeting held virtually, the Planning Committee Chairman, Mr. Famous Iduh highlighted the objectives of the meeting which he noted was to plan the marking of the 50 years of existence of Ndemili Grammar School.
He noted specifically that 50 years is a milestone which offers the old student an opportunity to reappraise the school with a view to envisioning the future.
The Committee Chairman further highlighted areas of focus to includes; Golden Jubilee Date which have been slated for Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of September 2023 respectively while Fundraising Dinner will hold on Friday, the Anniversary Celebration will hold on Saturday.
Landmark Projects; commissioning of landmark Projects for the Jubilee such as Functional Science Laboratory, Library, Domitory, etc, it was resolved that this Jubilee can be a ground breaking occasion for any agreed landmark Project where necessary in view of the time constraint.
Trust Fund; according to the Planning Committee Chairman, was a melting point which was supported by all participants at the meeting to use the Golden Jubilee to launch a ‘Scholarship Fund for NDEGRAM’ the purpose of the Fund which is a Trust Fund as adduced is to sponsor indigent, bright and exceptional students which could also serve as interventionist Fund for financing Registration of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) for NDEGRAM students. This initiative is envisaged to be an incentive to attract pupils back to the school.
To further strengthen the Planning Committee, the following sub-committees were constituted to steward the event: Contacts and Mobilization- to be Chaired by Hon. Chuks Agidigbo, Entertainment Commitee and Fund Raising – to be reactivated and chaired by Mr. Samuel Onyema.
Others were Media and Publicity to be coordinated by Hon. Bartholomew Ozah while Project Committee is to be headed by Mr. Celestine Ochonogor.
While promising to unfold additional sub-committees in subsequent meetings as well as the theme of the golden jubilee, Mr Iduh thanked the participants at the meeting which included the national president of NGOSA, Mrs. M. I. Osogbue even as he advised the committee members to put in their best to actualize the set goals.
