The legal team of Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, has written to the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) to discountenance the petition by Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi the former minister of state for education allegedly aiming to halt the conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate Of Nigeria (SAN) on Mr. Peter Mrakpo.
In the letter titled “IN THE MATTER OF PETITION AGAINST MR. PETER MRAKPOR, ESQ BY CHIEF KENNETH GBAGI ACCUSING PETER MRAKPOR, ESQ OF UN-WORTHY PRACTICES, ABUSE OF POWERS, INSTIGATING COMMUNAL CRISIS WITH THE SOLE OBJECTIVE OF HALTING THE SANSHIP CONFERMENT PROCESS WHY OLOROGUN KENNETH GBAGI SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY” and signed by one Omes Ogedegbe Esq, Director General of the Mrakpor legal team, urged LPPC to discountenance the said petition which at best qualifies as the Shakespeare article of a story told by an idiot full of sound and fury yet signifying nothing.
Below is the letter
THE SECRETARY
LEGAL PRACTITIONER PRIVILEGES COMMITTEE,
SUPREME COURT OF NIGERIA,
THREE ARM ZONE,
CENTRE BUSINESS DISTRICT,
ABUJA,
NIGERIA
Sir,
IN THE MATTER OF PETITION AGAINST MR. PETER MRAKPOR, ESQ BY CHIEF KENNETH GBAGI ACCUSING PETER MRAKPOR, ESQ OF UN-WORTHY PRACTICES, ABUSE OF POWERS, INSTIGATING COMMUNAL CRISIS WITH THE SOLE OBJECTIVE OF HALTING THE SANSHIP CONFERMENT PROCESS WHY OLOROGUN KENNETH GBAGI SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
We are in possession of the viral petition caused to be served on the Legal Practitioner Privileges Committee by Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi the former minister of state for education with the sole aim of halting the conferment of the prestigious rank of SENIOR ADVOCATE OF NIGERIA on Mr. Peter Mrakpo.
Suffice to state, our secretariat got complaints from members of the former staff of the ‘SIGNATIOUS’ Hotels limited owed by Chief Kenneth Gbagi on the 20th of September, 2020 to the effect one Chief Kenneth Gbagi arrested three female and a male staff of the Signatious hotels limited on allegations of stealing various sums of money from the hotel.
The thrust of the visit of the family to our organization’s secretariat was occasioned by the refusal of the Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O) in charge of the police division where the suspects were detained at the behest of Chief Kenneth Gbagi to grant bail to the four staffs despite repeated demands for a seemly bail-able offence.
In conjunction with other well meaning human right lawyers, the divisional police officer was compelled to charge the former staffs to court on various criminal charges of stealing on the 21st day of September, 2020. Please find attach copies of the charge.
That it was upon the arraignment of the four ex-staffs of the Signatious Hotels Limited at the Magistrate court Ebrumede, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State that they were graciously granted bail by the court.
That upon been granted bail by the magistrate court, they were received by their nude pictures and videos staking the internet at the behest of Chief Kenneth Gbagi.
The above situation prompted our petition to the commissioner of police, in charge of Delta State police command demanding for the arrest and prosecution of Chief Kenneth Gbagi for the above offence and for superintending the armed robbery attack on the ex-staff of the ‘Signatious’ Hotels. The suspects as defendants before the magistrate court disclosed how they were stripped naked at the behest of Chief Kenneth Gbagi who personally ordered his mobile police men to shoot at any of themwho defiles the orders of going naked and submitting his or her ATM cards.
Upon ranging public outcry and the petition from our organization and the office of Kunle Edun, Esq, Chief Kenneth Gbagi was invited. Rather than answer to his alleged crimes, he resorted to casting aspersion on the Honourable Attorney General, Mr Peter Mrakpo, accusing him of sponsoring his political opponent against him.
In a desperate attempt to wipe up sentiment, Chief Kenneth Gbagi has been on the press accusing Mr. Peter Mrakpo of sponsoring the attack against him. He shamelessly termed the letter of demand served on him as an act of blackmail from the office of Kunle Edun, Esq.
He has boasted of using his personal relationship with the Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN) in ensuring the process of conferment of SANSHIP on Mr. Peter Mrakpo is halted and we had honestly awaited a meritorious ground in that regard.
Sadly, the said petition dated the 5th day of October, 2020 served on this highly dignified committee is not only lacking in merit but an act of desperation taken too far.
It is very appalling that Chief Kenneth Gbagi could have the effrontery to write a petition to this prestigious committee at a time he ought to be defending the criminal allegations against him as he is possibly living in the dark days where wealth is might.
It is foolhardy on the part of Chief Kenneth Gbagi to accuse Mr. Mrakpo of sponsoring this case against him as one begins to wonder if the same Mr. Peter Mrakpo was responsible for sponsoring the case reported against the said Kenneth Gbagi by one Miss. Lucky Obire alleging a case of hostage taking, kidnapping and armed robbery against Chief Kenneth Gbagi.
It is a truism that he who goes to equity must go with clean hands hence it is imperative that the LPPC must know the profile of the individual (Gbagi) that is presenting the petition before it. The said Chief Kenneth Gbagi when properly described is notorious in acts of infraction on rights of citizens whom he perceived to be financially weak.
Suffice to state, the said Miss. Lucky Abire was held hostage by the said Chief Kenneth Gbagi and like the ex- four staffs was made to empty her account at the instance of Chief Kenneth Gbagi. The copy of the petition to the commissioner of police Delta state in this regard is annexed hereto.
Amongst the numerous petitions against Chief Kenneth Gbagi is that of Chief Raymond Anozie currently pending before the Commissioner of police, Delta State also annexed hereto.
We urge you therefore to discountenance the said petition which at best qualifies as the Shakespeare article of a story told by an idiot full of sound and fury yet signifying nothing.
