THE Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Developmental Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Williams Makinde will deliver the 1st Maris Annual Lecture.
According to a press statement issued on Saturday morning signed by Chief Kenneth Olise and Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Chairman and Secretary respectively of Maris Trust Council, organisers of the annual lecture, Chief Makinde will speak on the topic, MANAGING POST-ELECTION CHALLENGES: Nigeria As Case Study.
“The 2019 general elections are over and to calm frayed nerves, and engender a peaceful environment ahead of the inauguration of new government on May 29, 2019, it was resolved that Chief Williams Makinde, the Managing Director of DESOPADEC deliver Maris First Annual Lecture.
Chief Makinde will speak on the topic, MANAGING POST-ELECTION CHALLENGES: Nigeria As Case Study on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. The lecture will take place at Orchid Hotels, Asaba, Delta State at 12 noon.
Notable politicians across the political divides, people from the academic community, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Union of Journalists, the organised private sector, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among others, are expected to attend the lecture which will have the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as Chief Guest of Honour; a retired top management staff of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Chief (Sir) Nicholas Onyeogali Chizea as Chairman of the occasion and the Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Chief (Mrs) Josephine Ada Kachikwu as Mother of the Day.
Very Rev. Fr. John Konyeke will be the Spiritual Father of the day at the lecture,” the statement read.
Earlier in a promotional material tagged, “The Gathering,” it was disclosed that the lecture will be a gathering “of all those who contested in the primary elections ahead of the 2019 general elections, all those who emerged as candidates for the last general elections, all those who won in the elections, all those who lost in the elections, a gathering of those who are interested in contesting for elective positions in the future, a gathering of those who are interested in the affairs of Delta State and Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and a gathering of those who believe in stable polity.
